Privacy Policy
Last updated: 4 August 2026
1. Who is responsible
I am the data controller for the Site: AJ Silvers, an individual based in Montenegro. You can reach me by replying to any newsletter email.
2. Overview
This policy explains what personal data ajsilvers.com (the "Site") collects, why, and what your rights are. Short version: the only personal data I ask for is your email address, and only when you choose to give it. The Site also measures traffic in an anonymous, cookieless way, and uses advertising cookies only if you consent to them. Both are described below.
3. What I collect and why
Email address. When you opt in to the newsletter or request a free resource, your email address, together with the source and resource name, is stored so I can deliver what you asked for and send you the newsletter. The lawful basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by unsubscribing.
Analytics. The Site uses PostHog to understand which pages get read and how people move around. It is configured in cookieless mode: it sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device between visits, and does not build a profile that follows you across sessions or other websites. IP addresses are used only to derive an approximate country and are not retained in full. The lawful basis is my legitimate interest in understanding how the Site is used, balanced against the minimal nature of the data collected.
Functional cookie. After you opt in to a free resource, the Site sets a single first-party cookie so previously unlocked resources stay unlocked on your device for up to one year. It contains no tracking identifiers and is not shared with anyone. Your cookie choices are also remembered in your browser's local storage, so you are not asked again on every visit. Clearing your browser storage clears them. You can revisit those choices at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer.
Advertising and retargeting. The Site uses advertising pixels from Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and Google, and may use comparable pixels from other advertising providers, so that people who have visited the Site can be shown relevant ads elsewhere. These pixels set cookies and share data about your visit, such as the pages you viewed, with the provider concerned. They load only after you give explicit consent through the cookie banner. Until you consent, no advertising pixel runs and nothing is shared with those providers. You can refuse, change, or withdraw consent at any time through the banner controls, and nothing on the Site is withheld from you if you do. The lawful basis is your consent.
Server logs. The Site's hosting provider may log basic technical data (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security and operations.
4. Who processes your data
The Site is hosted on Netlify. Email addresses are stored and newsletters sent via Engage, an email service provider acting as a processor on my behalf. Analytics are processed by PostHog on their EU Cloud infrastructure, so that data stays within the European Union. Where you have consented to advertising cookies, Meta Platforms and Google receive data about your visit and act as independent controllers under their own privacy policies, which may involve transferring data outside the European Economic Area under the safeguards those companies rely on. I don't sell your data.
5. How long I keep it
Your email address is kept until you unsubscribe or ask me to delete it. Unsubscribing stops all emails; you can additionally request full deletion at any time. Anonymous analytics data is retained by PostHog for up to 12 months.
6. Your choices
You can unsubscribe from any email using the link at the bottom of it. You can change or withdraw your advertising cookie consent at any time through the cookie banner controls. Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies, and browser privacy modes or content blockers will prevent analytics and advertising scripts from loading.
7. Your rights
Under the GDPR and similar laws you have the right to access, correct, delete, or export the personal data I hold about you, to object to processing based on legitimate interest, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, contact me as described in section 1. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
8. Children
The Site is not directed at children and I do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
9. Changes
I may update this policy from time to time; the date above reflects the current version.
